How to find project definitions for Final Semester Project ?

One of the wrong notions which have entered in the minds of all the students today is that they want to EARN but don’t want to LEARN. The fact is that the former depends on the latter.
Majority of the students don’t know how to start working on a project. That’s the reason for me writing this article. So here are few tips for you to learn.
1-      How to find project definitions
To find project definitions you need to go for a “shod h-yatra” the term which the GTU uses . “Shodh” mean to search. Now where to search and how to search? The students can visit different companies and may request them to show what type of projects are going on in the companies. This may give you an idea about what type of projects are actually in demand in the market currently. Don’t worry about the technology used. Any Technology can be learn t in a month provided you have all the fundamentals cleared. For example if you want to learn Android Mobile Application Development then you must know JAVA. Else it will be difficult for you or rather time consuming to learn it. But knowledge of JAVA is expected from you as it is a compulsory subject in 5th semester Computer/IT. But majority of students don’t know java even though they may have got good grades in the GTU java exam .It is because they know only the theory but how that theory is applied to real word project/software is not known to them. So one of the main reasons is that our approach towards education is theoretical and not practical. That is the reason why even the toppers of GTU exam don’t have enough confidence of developing a working application. Anyway my purpose here is to guide you not to find faults with the system. So majority of the students always go on searching for training in companies. The reason is that their fundamentals are not cleared in the classroom itself. Otherwise there would have been no need to go to the companies because you have ”Google”(Just search the best practices for software making and you will get hundreds of websites guiding you . search for current software problems and you have thousands of them . search in various free lensing websites you get so many project definitions). Let me tell you this company people are business people so they will not train you unless it is very much beneficial to them. So students are unnecessarily being exploited due to their lack of knowledge.

2-      Watch for simple things

Just have a look around you . See all the processes happening in your day to day life. Ask yourself “How can I use my computer/software knowledge to make mine and other’s life better ?” and I am damn sure you will get hundreds of definitions. For ex . in today's newspaper I read that one of the persons has developed an Android Mobile app which will calculate the rent you need to pay to the “rikshawala”. Just start the application before sitting in and auto end it when you reach the destination and you will get the price you need to pay to the “autowala”. Going on an auto is a day to day thing but the person saw the opportunity that he can use his software knowledge even here. One of the students has developed an android application which will message the family members of the person if a person has met with an accident. All latest  mobiles have accelerometer which measures the thrusts the mobile experience. Naturally when a person has an accident he/she falls on the ground or vehicle with great thrust and application measures it and informs the family members of that person with the GPS location of where the accident took place. So no need to go and search for definitions everywhere. Just relax and ask yourself the above question. Don’t worry whether you will be able to make it or not. Just have confidence on yourself and start learning all the technology and tools required to complete your dream project.
